Casa Lola is a design event! Wild little place! Every inch feels like an epic design exploration. So many intimate spaces and great little vibey vignettes. We appreciated the uniqueness and style. Our room was the Lola Flores. The suite. Incredible! And indescribable! King bed in the center of the floor. A second floor up a winding staircase. Large windows to the street behind 14’ doors. Hundreds of eclectic decorations. Never a moment in the room that didn’t feel special. You have to see it to believe it. While touted as a 5 star stay, it is not. Cool in its own right, but don’t expect service in the way you would a luxury stay. Also, the water goes out, it’s tough to describe issues in the rooms adequately and my laundry, sent out for cleaning, was partially stolen or went missing…. In the instance of the missing laundry, we’ll, it was made to be my fault. The staff even suggested twice that they come and search my room for the missing items. Wish it were so easy. We sent out about 30 Items for cleaning and 12% of said items went missing. Never received even a feigned apology. Sigh. Try the restaurant. Make a reservation so you can sit in the air conditioned space. They don’t make accommodations for hotel guests without reservations, nor do they help you plan your requests at check-in. Check out takes about 20 minutes so plan for that.

Steam Punk Colonial Immersion with a Hidden Gem Rooftop in the Heart of Getsemani Hotel Casa Lola was the perfect place to kick off our extended honeymoon getaway in Cartagena. A cross between old steam punk, colonial, and Eastern decor with beautiful water streams throughout the incredible labyrinth of the hotel - there was so much to look at and take in at every corner! We thoroughly enjoyed our daily delicious breakfast full of amazing/unique local fruit (+ more), top notch coffee (according to my coffee connoisseur husband) and friendly service - all included with the room, which is the best if you are a budget conscious traveler like myself. 🙂 The split level rooms with the bed up on the second floor and mirrors all over also made for a one-of-a-kind experience. A major highlight was the rooftop deck with the most incredible views of the city and interesting nooks and crannies galore - it was so quiet up there whenever we made our way on the roof, and we always wondered why more guests/people weren't around enjoying lounging in this hidden gem of a spot! Staying in the heart of Getsemani (a block or so away from the famous Cafe Havana, where we enjoyed a night out of live music and salsa dancing) was such a treat, and the staff were extremely helpful with coordinating drivers from the airport and down to our self-coordinated trip to the Aviary one morning. And of course the neighborhood is a full cultural/art immersion experience - the colors and energy of the nights are one-of-a-kind!

Lobby restaurant Didn’t stay at this hotel, just had dinner. Columbia is a foodie country, so expectations were high, while the reality was just good. Excellent cocktails, and super friendly staff (thank you, Elias!) made me want to come back eventually.

Perfect from the start! It was perfect from the start! We arrived earlier than check in time with the idea of leaving our luggage while we walk around the neighborhood. Efrain in the front desk surprised us with an upgrade to the Master Suite and also had our room ready. Amazing and so kind. It’s a very beautiful hotel with very decadent decorations. I just reread 100 Years of Solitude and had that same magic realism vibe to it. Our room was fantastic. It had great natural lighting during the day and had blinds to cover during night time. The noise was minimal. We hear the bar area music or neighborhood sounds but faint. The bed was comfortable and everything was in order. We had great meals at breakfast and dinner. I love their Red Sangria that pairs well with warm Cartagena weather. The staff were all very attentive. They were quick to attend to our needs and checked on us frequently. We realized late night that we needed a Covid test for the flight home and they were able to secure us one on time! Thanks for all the love Casa Lola! See you again.

Super nice - perfect for a quick trip (support LGBTQ) Only had a few days in CTG but the place had everything we wanted. Perfect little pools on the roof with amazing drinks, gorgeous kitschy interiors with nice beds, excellent room service, food right from the elegant on-site restaurant (didn’t get to try dining - went to Celele). Arranged great airport transport and in-town taxis. Service was excellent, go right to the top-notch manager on site, she saved us when the bell/wait staff couldn’t help. (If she’s not the manager, she should be!) Needed a last minute negative COVID test and she was on it. Owned by a gay couple, which we were specifically looking for - an oasis in the city!

Best boutique hotel experience in Cartagena We were visiting beautiful Cartagena this past September. We had heard a lot of good things about Casa Lola so we naturally decided to see for ourselves what the fuss was all about. It was really nothing compared to what this beautiful boutique hotel is really like. It is simply spectacular. A lot of people would say it's not in the best location because it is in Getsemaní, the part of the historic Colonial City that's not inside the walls. But to me, this is one of the hotel's best features. Yes, the area is a little rougher around the edges and not as manicured as the "Ciudad Amurallada," but that's what makes it so special, so unique, so authentic. The hotel comprises 2 gorgeous historic houses (one Colonial and one from a later period), that have been completed renovated and decorated with the utmost taste. Just walking around appreciating the art, the decor, the beautiful hallways, patios, and lush vegetation is a complete delight. We stayed in the Master Suite and I can say that I was speechless when we walked in. The room is sooooo beautiful, spacious, with very high ceilings, and a lot of light coming in from indoor gardens that can be seen behind huge glass doors. The shower was one of my favorite features: it is also open like the indoor garden, making you feel like you're taking a shower al fresco. The back of the room is a huge floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking a lush backyard. Inside the room, you feel like in a very luxurious room in the middle of a lush, tropical forest. Breakfast was included and delicious. It included eggs at taste, fruit, bread, juice and coffee. My scrambled eggs with ham and cheese were always so tasty and most... yum! And what can I say about the rooftop... breathtaking! I could just live there! The sunsets, the lounging areas, the small, intimate by very sophisticated rooftop pools, the views... stuff of dreams, really! My only wish would be that the hotel had more spa services/area. Such a beautiful, quaint, high-luxe hotel needs better facilities than just a little area with 2 massage beds. I mentioned this to one of the staff members and he told us that the hotel is working on a larger spa area, potentially with a Turkish bath, sauna and other amenities. If that's true, this hotel would be beyond perfect! I'm really glad we stayed at Casa Lola. I think it is officially my home in Cartagena from now on.
